Mission and Values

Mission: Redemption Counseling Center exists to bring health and wholeness to the mental well-being of individuals and the community through licensed, professional counselors who are guided by evidence-based practice, faith inclusion, and the removal of barriers to accessible mental health care.

Redemption Counseling Center (RCC) is a non-profit, group practice in Flagstaff, AZ. We are a team of therapists who have a desire and eagerness to meet the needs of those seeking counseling, including those who are uninsured or underinsured. We offer specialized services in EMDR, working with trauma, vicarious trauma, and faith and spiritual integration. While clients often seek us out for our faith-based Christian roots, we offer services to all clientele regardless of faith, respecting and valuing that our clients come from all walks of life.

Our Core Values:

  • Equity and Care for All - We are committed to quality, affordable care.

  • Spiritual and Faith Based Integration (as requested and desired) - We are committed to the ethical integration of faith and we believe that faith can be a transformational part of our journey towards healing.

  • Evidence Based Practice -  We are committed to on-going learning and training in evidence-based modalities.

  • Social and Racial Justice - We are committed to humbly learning and living out justice for the oppressed.

  • Respect and Dignity for All - We are committed to valuing and welcoming all, not just those who think or look a certain way.

Our Beginning

About RCC’s Formation: A message from our founder about our faith-based roots.

If you had told me when I started out that my path would lead me to become a therapist, and the founder of a non-profit group practice, I likely would have laughed. I had other dreams in mind! What I did know, even in those early days, was that someday I wanted to be a part of creating a space of hope, transformation, and profound healing. I also had a deep desire within me to provide a place that recognized the importance of people’s faith, and allowed space for it to be central to the process of change.

It was from this desire that the values of RCC were birthed: Equity and Care for All, Spiritual and Faith Based Integration (as requested and desired), Evidence Based Care, Social and Racial Justice, and Respect and Dignity for All . Over the years I have had the honor of meeting people in places of profound need and tenderness through faith integration. In these places I have witnessed God’s invitation of people into deep healing, through professional counseling. As that original desire grew to find an inclusive way for people, I knew that I wanted to create a place that could acknowledge the sacred nature of healing and therapy, and was capable to integrate the love of God into this healing work. This vision was birthed from watching people strive to find a place where they felt heard and understood, affirmed and acknowledged--where their faith system was a welcome piece to this work, not just a side story. A place where a person’s faith or doubt could touch their suffering and where they could be met with compassionate care.

It is my desire that people who come through the doors at Redemption Counseling Center can show up with their whole self--that no part is left at the door. For those seeking it, my hope is that the love of God could permeate this work, and that those who want it could fully integrate their faith into their process of healing.

For those who want to do this work without a faith or spiritual component, integration of faith is not required, integrated, or pushed in any way.  We have many clients who choose not to do this specific work, and we honor that by focusing on our other core values.  Furthermore, all faith backgrounds are welcome.  We do not discriminate against anyone’s faith (or absence of faith).

Kindly,

Emily Neuman Bauerle, LCSW
